LASU V.C calls for peace, unity for varsity’s development

The Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, on Wednesday called for peace and unity in the university community, to aid more development.

Olatunji-Bello made the call in her 2024 Eid-el-fitr message made available to newsmen, in which she congratulated Muslim faithful for a successful Ramadan fasting season.

“About 30 days ago, we commenced the journey of the holy month of Ramadan in earnest anticipation of God’s blessings upon our individual lives, families, university, state, and nation.

“As we celebrate the festival of breaking the fast today, we can look back and appreciate His infinite mercies upon us.

“While expressing our gratitude, we must come together in unity and solidarity and espouse the research frontiers for the common good.

“As a community, we have to reaffirm our commitment to the values of empathy, kindness, and generosity that Ramadan instils in us,” she said.She admonished Muslim faithful to extend love and kindness to one another and forgive each other’s shortcomings.

“Indeed, this, more than ever before, is a time to remember those in need and offer a hand of help to as many as we have the capacity to help.

“It is incumbent upon us to sustain the piousness, discipline, and self-denial that characterised our daily lives throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan.

“It is in doing so that we can reap the benefits of the spiritual exercise in a sustainable manner.

“I wish you a joyful and blessed Eid El Fitri. Amin,” the vice chancellor said
