LASTMA nabs hit-and-run trailer driver

Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has arrested a trailer driver involved in a hit-and-run incident at Anthony Oke, heading towards Oshodi.

The driver, operating a trailer owned by Honeywell Flour Mill Plc, was apprehended after hitting a pedestrian who was attempting to cross the expressway.

According to Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, LASTMA,  Mr. Taofiq Adebayo, in a statement on Monday, the incident occurred in the early hours of the morning and sparked significant concern among witnesses and commuters.

The pedestrian sustained serious injuries, including a broken left leg, and was promptly attended to by personnel from the Lagos State Ambulance Service and transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.

LASTMA officials responded swiftly, pursuing the fleeing driver and apprehending him at Oshodi. Investigation has since been handed over to officers from Mosafejo Police Station for further prosecution.

Adebayo noted that LASTMA remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all road users in Lagos and will continue to collaborate closely with law enforcement agencies to bring traffic offenders to justice.

He urged all road users to adhere to traffic laws and prioritise the safety of pedestrians and other motorists.
