The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has commended its officers for their swift actions in responding to two serious traffic accidents that occurred recently in Lagos.
Managing Director Olalekan Bakare-Oki praised the officers for their life-saving efforts during the incidents, which took place in the Obanikoro and Chevron areas.
In a statement released on Monday, Bakare-Oki detailed that the first accident involved a commercial Suzuki mini-bus that overturned on Ikorodu Road, entraping the driver, a conductor, and a female passenger.
“LASTMA officers responded with remarkable immediacy, orchestrating a comprehensive rescue effort,” he noted.
The driver was rushed to the National Orthopaedic Hospital in Igbobi, while the conductor received immediate medical assistance from the Lagos State Ambulance Services.
The injured passenger was safely handed over to her family.
The second accident, according to Bakare-Oki, occurred near Chevron on the Lekki-Ajah Expressway, involving a speeding Toyota Camry that lost control and veered into a deep gutter.
He emphasised that LASTMA’s rapid intervention helped prevent further casualties and allowed for prompt medical attention to an injured passerby.
“Our officers are rigorously trained to respond to emergencies with precision,” Bakare-Oki said, reiterating LASTMA’s commitment to road safety. He urged all drivers to adhere to speed regulations and maintain vigilance while driving.
“LASTMA’s toll-free hotline, 080000527862, remains accessible for prompt reporting of traffic-related incidents,” he added, reinforcing the authority’s dedication to ensuring the safety and security of all road users in Lagos.
