LASIMRA reveals how Lagos can be transformed into a smart city hub in Africa

Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA), at its 3rd annual stakeholders pre-conference in Lagos yesterday, explained how Lagos State can be transformed into a smart city hub in Africa.
Nigerian NewsDirect reports that the vision of LASIMRA is to be a model technology-driven and innovative regulatory agency that guarantees public safety through the enforcement of regulations for the development and maintenance of all categories of ‘utility infrastructure’ in public space for all stakeholders in Lagos.
The General Manager of LASIMRA, Engr (Mrs) Bisoye Coker-Odusote, while addressing journalists, said, “By looking inwards we have done well so far to ensure the project is successful. The Governor has done extremely passionate about smart city during the project.
“Our objectives are to look at the application that has put in place. Other area is to look at our core objectives LASIMRA, transportation system that has been put in place, wonderful biometric ID Card, also digital cabinet that has been put in place.
“This is the first time Lagos State has ever had digital cabinet. 80 per cent of the project has been completed, and the rest will be completed before the end of this year.
“We have been working actively to ensure that we provide infrastructure that is needed as quickly as possible because of benefit of the citizens of Lagos State. There are so many factors that affect his compensation that we have today. By looking at the success rate, we have inputs and suggestion for people that present here on how we can definitely improve on has already been done.”
She, added that “we have monitoring and enforcement departments that have been set up to effectively monitor the government property. Anyone who destroys government property will be arrested and prosecuted according to the law.
“LASIMRA was established by law. We have a whistle blowing platform which can definitely escalate.The platform can only be accessed on our website.”
Meanwhile, stakeholders from various utility infrastructure such as Telecom, Gas, ICT, Power, Water, and Sewerage will be present at the programme coming up on 4th of October 2022.
