LASG warns against attack on passengers, BRT buses

By Sodiq Adelakun

The Lagos State Government (LASG) has condemned the recent attacks on its passengers and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) buses by hoodlums, warning perpetrators to desist from such acts.

Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Lagos Bus Services Limited (LBSL), Mr. Idowu Oguntona, in a statement on Wednesday described the trend as alarming and unacceptable.

He stated that the government would not stand by idly and allow such acts of lawlessness to continue in the state.

Oguntona recalled an incident where a mob attacked a BRT bus travelling from Mile 2 to Leventis, vandalising the bus and causing panic among the 35 passengers on board.

The attackers assaulted passengers, stabbed them with sharp objects, and robbed them of their phones and other valuables.

The LBSL boss reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that those responsible for the heinous act are punished.

He described the perpetrators as agents of anarchy and assured Lagos residents that their safety remained LBSL’s top priority.

Oguntona warned that security agencies are actively pursuing the perpetrators and that anyone considering engaging in such despicable acts would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

He assured commuters of their safety while travelling on all public transportation platforms in Lagos State.
