In a bid to strengthen security operations across Lagos State, the Lagos State Government has donated more than 250 brand-new patrol vehicles to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

The donation, which also includes vital communication devices, protective gear, and operational hardware, was unveiled on Thursday during the 18th Annual Town Hall Meeting on Security, held at the Lagos State Government Secretariat.

The event, which saw the attendance of top officials including the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, underscored the state’s ongoing commitment to maintaining law and order. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who made the presentation, emphasised the crucial role of robust security infrastructure in supporting economic growth and ensuring the safety of Lagos residents.

“This initiative represents a significant step forward in our collective efforts to strengthen security operations throughout Lagos State,” Governor Sanwo-Olu said during the handover.

“Security is fundamental to maintaining economic stability and ensuring the safety of our communities. It remains one of our top priorities as an administration,” he added.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also expressed his gratitude to the private sector partners who contributed to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), which facilitated the acquisition of the vehicles and equipment.

“We are steadfast in our commitment to ensuring the safety of all Lagosians, and this support from the private sector has been invaluable in achieving that goal,” he said.

The Lagos State Government has remained proactive in enhancing the capacity of the police, investing in both manpower and cutting-edge technology to address the rising security challenges in the state.
