LASG committed to road project completion in Ikorodu Division – Official 

The Lagos State Government has pledged its commitment to a speedy completion of ongoing construction of the 6.1km, Ijede road ahead of the rainy season.

A statement by Mr Adesina Odunuga, spokesman, Lagos State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure on Thursday in Lagos, said that other ongoing projects in Ikorodu Division would also be completed.

Odunuga said Mrs Aramide Adeyoye, Special Adviser to Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Works and Infrastructure during an inspection tour of projects in the area gave assurance of fast tracking ongoing construction works.

Adeyoye said Sanwo-Olu’s administration was determined to ensure prompt completion of Ijede road ahead of the rainy season.

She urged the contractors to give their best to ensure a speedy completion of the projects.

She appealed for the understanding of residents, advising them to bear the temporary discomforts being experienced as a result of the road construction works.

The aide said that upon completion, the projects would boost connectivity, facilitate better traffic flow, reduce travel time, improve the health of the residents and enhance property value in the axis.

She noted that government was committed to ensuring quick delivery of ongoing rehabilitation and re-construction works of Ijede – Ewu Elepe, Oba Sekunmade and other roads in Ikorodu as promised.

She further said the government was committed to curbing the traffic challenges along the Ikorodu corridor to remove the hardship being experienced by road users.

Adeyoye assured residents that the scope and specifications for the projects remained unaltered, especially Oba Sekunmade road which was a strategic link to Ebute Jetty and the Ipakodo lighter terminal.

She added that the link roads to the jetty would promote multi-modal transportation and be a major boost to the nation’s economy.

Also, Mr Sinai Agunbiade, Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ikorodu Constituency 1, said the road connected Ikorodu town and Lagos-Ikorodu road highway to about 20 communities in the Division.

“I am really impressed at the progress of work done and the quality of supervision and monitoring by the team from Ministry of Works and Infrastructure,” he said.

Meanwhile, the traditional ruler of Ipakodo, Chief Julius Shonubi has expressed his appreciation and commended Sanwo-Olu for the commitment to deliver on his electoral promise.

He added that effective supervision by the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure contributed to the progress recorded on the projects.

The District Head of Ogolonto, Chief Yekini Fatola urged the contractors to complete drainage outfalls on the project before the rains to prevent seasonal flash flooding experienced by communities along the road.

Other major ongoing road rehabilitation projects inspected were the Igbgogbo Bola Ahmed Tinubu – Igbe road and the Owutu Agric Isawo Road.
