The Lagos State Government has announced a four-week traffic diversion in Ikoyi to accommodate road repairs.

The diversion will affect Alfred Rewane and Osborne roads, routing traffic through the Osborne Foreshore Estate axis. Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, stated this on Tuesday, noting that the Federal Ministry of Works will begin rehabilitating asphalt sections from Osborne Foreshore Estate to Sura Bridge Ramp from June 26 to July 27, 2024.

One lane will be closed during the rehabilitation, and alternative routes have been suggested. Motorists from Alexander/Glover should use Oba Adeyinka Oyekan Avenue to connect to Obalende/Ring Road and the Third Mainland Bridge.

Those from Victoria Island can go through Falomo Roundabout to link Awolowo Road or use Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue to reach the Third Mainland Bridge and Funsho Williams Avenue.

“Alternately, motorists from Victoria Island can also utilise Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue to link Mekunwen Bridge and proceed to CMS/Apongbon Bridge inward Eko Bridge to access Funsho Williams Avenue to reach their desired destinations.

“For this period, motorists on the other side of Sura Bridge will have through traffic inbound Osborne Foreshore Estate.”

Traffic management personnel will be deployed to ensure a steady flow and minimise inconveniences. Motorists are urged to comply with the officers and remain patient.

In May, a similar traffic diversion was announced for Adeniji through Falomo, including Bourdillon and Queens Drive, expected to last until November 7, 2024.
