
LASEMA records 1,675 incidents in 2024 — Official
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has revealed that it responded to a total of 1,675 incidents throughout 2024, with 167 of those occurring in December alone.
According to the agency’s Permanent Secretary, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the incidents attended to in 2024 bring the total number of emergencies responded to by LASEMA since June 1, 2019, to 8,117.
“Out of the annual total of 1,675 attended by the agency in 2024, 167 incidents were attended to in the month of December,” Oke-Osanyintolu said.
The agency’s data shows that road accidents accounted for the majority of incidents in December, with 58 vehicular crashes recorded.
This was followed by truck and tanker incidents, with 43 recorded cases. Fire disasters ranked third, with 33 incidents recorded.
Oke-Osanyintolu noted that Eti-Osa Local Government Area recorded the highest number of incidents in December, with 23 cases. Ikeja Local Government Area followed closely, with 22 recorded incidents.
The Permanent Secretary assured Lagos residents that LASEMA remains committed to responding promptly and effectively to emergencies across the state.
