Land speculator dragged to court over land fraud

A 32-year-old land speculator, Abiodun Ibrahim has been arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court over land fraud.

The accused person was arraigned on a  four-count charge bordering on felony, pretence and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.

The accused person allegedly committed the offence in December 2019 at Ayegbemi, Ota Efun area in Osogbo.

The prosecutor, Inspector Bose Shoyemi told the court that the accused person obtained the sum of N700,000 from one Amuda Okiki intending to give her a plot of land, knowing fully well that it was false.

The prosecutor further said that the accused person conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by selling fake land to the complainant.

The offence committed contravened and punishable under Sections 249, 390, 382, 419, 516 Criminal Code CAP 34 vol 11 Law of Osun state 2002.

The accused person, however, pleaded not guilty to the allegations levelled against him

Defence counsel T. S. Adegboyega prayed the court to grant his client bail in most liberal terms.

In his ruling, Isola Omisade granted the accused person bail in the sum of  N600,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The case was adjourned till March 5, 2021, for ruling.
