Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has launched the Lagos State Revenue Portal (LRP), a digital platform designed to simplify non-tax revenue payments for residents.
The portal, which is part of the state government’s effort to make Lagos a smart city, will enable individuals and businesses to access various services related to revenue payments across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) online.
According to Sanwo-Olu, the LRP is a game-changer that will promote a culture of accountability and transparency in revenue collection.
“The launch of the Lagos Revenue Portal represents our commitment to innovation, transparency, and ease of doing business in Lagos State,” he said. “By simplifying the payer enumeration process, we are removing barriers to compliance, which will, in turn, boost our revenue base,” he said.
The Governor commended the entire Lagos State Executive Council, Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, Ministry of Finance, State Treasury Office, Lagos State Internal Revenue Service, and other stakeholders for their dedication to the project.
He urged every Lagosian to embrace the innovation, saying, “The success of this platform depends on its adoption by the people it is designed to serve.”
Special Adviser to the Governor on Taxation and Revenue, Abdulkabir Ogungbo, highlighted the features of the revenue portal, including easy payer registration, online bill payment, and instant revenue receipt generation. He noted that the portal is available on both web and mobile application channels and is designed to simplify the entire registration process.
Other stakeholders, including the Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Bosun Alake, and the Chairman of the State’s House of Assembly committee on Finance, Hon Femi Saheed, commended the governor for his people-centric programs and the innovative revenue generation drive.
