Lagos unites stakeholders for accelerated growth in Lekki Economic Zone
The Lagos State Ministry of Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment (MCCTI) has brought together key stakeholders in the Lekki Economic Zone for a collaborative effort.
The formalisation of relationships between various enterprises and zones within the Lekki corridor was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) by several stakeholders, including Lekki Worldwide Investment Limited (representing the Lagos State Government), Lekki Free Zone Development Company (LFZDC), Lagos Free Zone, Dangote Enterprise Zone, Alaro City, and Lekki Ports at Alausa.
Commissioner for CCTI, Folashade Ambrose, described the event as historic, highlighting how the leaders of these enterprises have moved beyond economic divides to create a transformative shift that will reshape the business and investment landscape in the Lekki Economic Zone.
Ambrose stated, “Today’s event marks a significant milestone in our collective desire to ignite the latent potentials of the Lekki Economic Zone, exploring its huge opportunities and accelerating its development with the entrance of additional investments.
“It is part of the broader plan to transform the region into an economic and industrial hub, catering to sectors including manufacturing, real estate, trade, logistics, and services.”
She further emphased that the MOU reflects the shared commitment to positioning Lagos as a key hub for trade and investment in West Africa, which will benefit both local and international businesses.
Ambrose stressed that the collaboration will enable government agencies, businesses, and local communities to pool resources, share expertise, and work together on infrastructure development.
Ambrose also affirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to ensuring an ease-of-doing-business environment, which supports business prosperity and strengthens the state’s economy under the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Managing Director/CEO of Lekki Worldwide Investment Limited (LWIL), Adeniyi Akinlusi, described the collaboration as an important step for the Lekki Economic Zone.
“An African adage says, if you want to go fast, go alone, but if you want to go far, go together. Today, we have agreed to go far by going together,” he remarked.
Adesuwa Ladoja, Managing Director/CEO of Lagos Free Zone, called the collaboration a game-changer for the Lekki Economic Zone, saying that while there had been previous informal cooperation, the formalization of this partnership will significantly boost investments in the corridor.
She emphasised that this collaboration aligns with the economic vision outlined in both the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus Development Agenda and the Renewed Hope Agenda of the State and Federal Governments.
