Lagos Taskforce seizes 82 commercial motorcycles
The Lagos State Taskforce has confiscated 82 commercial motorcycles, popularly known as okadas, as part of its ongoing enforcement of restrictions on their operations across major highways and prohibited routes.
Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, confirmed the operation in a statement issued on Tuesday in Lagos.
He revealed that the enforcement exercise targeted areas including Alakija, Iyana-Iba, Festac, Mile 2, and Berger Suya towards Mile 2 Oke.
“A total of 82 commercial motorcycles were impounded for non-compliance with state regulations,” Osiyemi stated.
He noted that the reduction in illegal okada activities on highways reflected the effectiveness of sustained enforcement efforts and increased compliance with the ban.
“This has significantly contributed to a decline in crime rates across the city,” he added.
According to the commissioner, the operation was carried out with professionalism and respect for human rights, ensuring minimal disruption to public order.
