By Seun Ibiyemi
The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion plan to ensure smooth commuting during the annual Lagos Women Run, set to take place on Saturday, November 9, 2024.
The race, which begins at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), will proceed through Water Board, Old NITEL, Outer Marina, Bonny Camp Bridge, Ahmadu Bello Way, Akin Adesola Street, Falomo Bridge, Falomo Roundabout, Awolowo Road, and Onikan Roundabout, ending at Mobolaji Johnson Arena. These areas will experience partial road closures to accommodate the event.
To minimize inconvenience, alternative routes have been provided:
Motorists heading to the Third Mainland Bridge from Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue are advised to take Bonny Camp, connect through the Onikan Underpass, exit Marina to Force Road, and link up with Outer Marina toward the Third Mainland Bridge.
Motorists traveling to Ikoyi Road from Apongbon should use Odunlami Street, connect through Igbosere Road, and continue on Moloney Street to access Ikoyi Road.
According to Commissioner for Transportation Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, all major intersections along the race route will be secured with barriers and monitored by officials from LASTMA, NPF, FRSC, and LSNC to ensure both safety and efficient traffic management.
The Lagos State Government advises all motorists to exercise patience as these diversions are essential for a smooth event day.
