Lagos State announces traffic diversion on Marine Bridge for repairs

By Seun Ibiyemi

The Lagos State Government has announced a traffic diversion on the outbound lane of the Marine Bridge, Apapa, starting Monday, November 18, 2024, to Tuesday, February 25, 2025.

This measure is necessary to facilitate the repair of the asphalt section of the bridge.

Motorists are advised to take alternative routes during the repair period to minimize inconvenience. The Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, highlighted the suggested routes for motorists: For Lagos Island-bound vehicles from Apapa:Use Costain Roundabout and proceed via Eko Bridge.

Alternatively, take Ijora 7up through Marine Bridge to connect the ramp leading to Ijora Causeway Access Road via Ijora Oloye, then head to Eko Bridge towards Lagos Island.

For vehicles heading to Ijora Causeway/Iddo from Apapa:Use Costain Roundabout to access Eko Bridge, then take the Ijora Causeway ramp and make a U-turn to reach Iddo.

Alternatively, follow Ijora 7up through Marine Bridge to link Ijora Causeway Access Road via Ijora Oloye and proceed to Iddo.

The diversion will only affect the Ijora Olopa-bound lane, while movement to Costain via Sifax remains accessible.

Mr. Osiyemi assured the public that personnel from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will be deployed to the affected areas to manage traffic flow and reduce disruptions.

He emphasized that the repair works, overseen by the Federal Ministry of Works, will be closely monitored to ensure timely completion.

Motorists are urged to remain patient as the rehabilitation is part of ongoing efforts to improve road infrastructure in the state.
