The state government unveiled the Diaspora Real Estate Desk on Monday, an effort to provide seamless, transparent, and reliable real estate services to the Nigerian diaspora community.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who spoke during the announcement, emphasised the importance of supporting Nigerians abroad by ensuring they have access to trustworthy real estate transactions in Lagos.
The collaborative initiative between the Lagos State Lands Bureau and the Office of Diaspora Affairs aims to address the specific needs of Nigerians seeking to invest in Lagos real estate, providing them with professional advice and guidance.
“This initiative underscores our commitment to supporting the diaspora community and fostering stronger connections with them, with this partnership, we aim to enhance transparency and trust in real estate dealings, ensuring our people abroad can confidently invest in Lagos real estate,” Governor Sanwo-Olu said.
The Diaspora Real Estate Desk is set to serve as a one-stop resource for Nigerians abroad to access critical information, from land acquisition to property development and documentation.
The desk, led by Estate Surveyor and Valuer Jermaine Sanwo-Olu, in collaboration with Kamar Olowoshago, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos Lands Bureau, is designed to eliminate fraudulent real estate practices and offer a credible point of contact for diaspora Nigerians.
“We recognise the vulnerability of Nigerians abroad to fraudulent real estate deals,”
“The establishment of this desk provides a central and credible point of contact for addressing their real estate needs, ensuring their investments are secure,” he said.
