Lagos Red Line train service begins commercial operation
The Lagos Red Line train service has officially commenced commercial operations, marking a significant milestone in the transformation of public transportation in Lagos State.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced the commencement of the service on his social media handle, @jidesanwoolu.
According to Sanwo-Olu, “The Red Line Rail has officially kicked off its invitational passenger operations.
The Red Line will operate four daily trips between Oyingbo and Agbado, with stops at key stations such as Yaba, Mushin, Oshodi, Ikeja, and Agege.
The trains will adhere strictly to their schedules, ensuring order and efficiency in rail services.
Sanwo-Olu emphasized that this initial passenger operation allows for the assessment of the system’s safety, reliability, and efficiency while gathering valuable feedback from passengers. Once fully operational, the Red Line is anticipated to run 20 trips daily, accommodating over 500,000 passengers each day.
“This rail line is more than just transportation; it’s a vital link that connects our communities and drives economic growth,” Sanwo-Olu added.
