Lagos Police avert wanton destruction of 22 BRT Buses, restore normalcy, as CP cautions motorist

The Operatives of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS), on Wednesday successfully prevented the destruction of twenty-two BRT Buses and robberry of passengers.
The incident which was forestalled by Police was said to have been a reprisal attack which ensued as an aftermath of an accident involving a BRT Bus and one motorcyclist, at Cement Bus-Stop along Lagos-Abeokuta expressway.
In a statement by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi made available to Nigerian NewsDirect.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police CP Hakeem Odumosu had swiftly instructed the RRS Commander, CSP Olayinka to get to the root of the situation and restore normalcy to the environment.
Revealing details shrouding the incident, the Police boss said the commercial motorcyclist, lost control while using the BRT corridor, and was crushed to death by an oncoming BRT bus which resulted to attacks by some motorcyclists and miscreants on all BRT buses and passengers in the area.
He said, “The RRS enforcement team was able to restore order and escorted the 22 BRT buses safely back to Oshodi terminal.”
“The Commissioner of Police decried the flagrant disobedience of traffic rules by Okada Riders and motorists in the state especially plying the BRT corridors with impunity. He emphasised that such is unacceptable.”
Odumosu however directed that the hoodlums that orchestrated the attacks on BRT buses and brouhaha be apprehended and made to face the wrath of the law as the Command will not tolerate any act of lawlessness.
