An Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Monday sentenced a 25-year-old man, Sani Yushau, to 16 hours of community service for stealing a phone worth N100,000 at Mile 12 area of the state.
It was gathered that Yushau was arraigned on a count charge of stealing.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.A. Daodu, sentenced Yushau after police investigations had revealed that he stole the phone from a commercial driver he intended to do a business with.
Daodu, thereafter, ordered that the convict be cautioned and discharged after he must have completed the 16-hour community service, which would be at the discretion of the officer in charge.
It was gathered that Yushau was initially arraigned on Oct. 20.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Bassey Sunday, told the court that Yushau committed the offences on Sept. 29 at Mile 12 market, Ketu, in Ikeja Magisterial District.
He said that Yushau stole a Techno Spark 8 handset, valued at N100,000, property of one Moses Ayodele.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
