Lagos: Man docked for alleged rape of 10-year-old daughter
On Wednesday, August 28, a 38-year-old man, Lucky Ugwauka, was brought before a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Badagry, Lagos, on charges of defiling his 10-year-old daughter.
Ugwauka, whose residence was not disclosed, faces charges of defilement. He has entered a plea of not guilty to the accusations.
According to Inspector Ayodele Adeosun, the prosecution stated that the alleged offence occurred on August 16 at approximately 6:00 p.m. at Abapasha Street in the Ojo area of Lagos. Adeosun detailed that Ugwauka is accused of sexually assaulting his daughter and threatening her with death if she disclosed the abuse.
The charge against Ugwauka violates Sections 139, 263, and 58 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Chief Magistrate Patrick Adekomaiya granted bail to Ugwauka in the amount of N500,000, requiring two sureties to post a similar sum. The sureties must be level 14 officers in the Civil Service.
The case has been adjourned to September 30 for further proceedings.
