Lagos LG Poll: Vice Chairman declares for Onigbongbo LCDA top seat
The Vice Chairman of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos Mrs Rakiyah Hassan on Wednesday declared her intention to contest for chairmanship of the council.
Speaking during her official declaration at Police College Ikeja, Hassan assured her supporters of an all-inclusive administration if elected at the All Progressives Congress primaries on Saturday.
“Honestly, I am very impressed by today’s turnout and with the support our people have shown, I promise an all-inclusive government.
“My aspiration is to make Onigbongbo LCDA a model when it comes to local government administration in Lagos State.
“From today’s turnout, I am assured that Saturday’s primary is going to be a Tsunami victory over all other opponents.
“I promise a better standard of living. I urge all party faithful not to sell their votes but vote for competence and not sentiment and hope for a better tomorrow,” she said
A former Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Chief Ebenezer Akinbolade urged members to remain focused and mobilise votes for Hassan during Saturday primaries.
Mr Adamson Ayinde, who stepped down from the race to support Hassan, said both of them had similar ideology for aspiring for the chairmanship position.
“I had a rethink considering that myself and Hassan have similar ideology for aspiring and we are both professionals. “She is a barrister while I am an accountant. So, I felt we should come together to take Onigbongbo to a greater heights.
“I was not advised by anyone to step down but it is my personal decision to give my support for her,” he said.
