The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) has commenced a week-long pilot operation of the 40-passenger Omibus ferries in Lagos, aimed at transforming waterway transportation in the state.

The Omibus ferries, built by Caverton Marine Limited in partnership with the Lagos State Government, will operate on three key routes with one round trip per day.

The pilot scheme, powered by the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, seeks to collect data and raise public awareness about the future of waterway transportation in Lagos. LASWA announced the initiative on its social media platform, stating that the goal is to revolutionise waterway commuting in the state.

The Omibus ferries, designed to international safety standards, offer a comfortable and secure journey. The pilot operation will help refine the service for a full launch, with LASWA encouraging feedback from users.

The initiative is part of efforts to reduce congestion and improve transportation in Lagos.
