Lagos Govt to distribute 200,000 bins for proper trash disposal

In a bid to promote environmental cleanliness, the Lagos State Government (LASG) has announced plans to distribute 200,000 bins to residents across the state.

This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to re-introduce the monthly environmental sanitation exercise, which was cancelled in 2016.

According to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the bins will aid in proper trash disposal and encourage residents to take responsibility for their environment.

Speaking at a sensitization session at Campos Stadium in Lagos Island on Sunday, Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed concern over the level of environmental nuisance and uncleanliness in the state.

“It is unacceptable the level of environmental nuisance people have constituted, the level of refuse, uncleanliness, the untidiness we noticed while driving round this morning,” he said.

The governor emphasised the need for a better understanding of and care for the environment, and encouraged residents to take advantage of the bin distribution to ensure proper trash disposal.

The bin distribution is part of the government’s broader plan to re-introduce the monthly environmental sanitation exercise, which was cancelled in 2016.
