…Attorney-General, CP vow to combat illegal land activities

In a step towards enhancing the collaboration between law enforcement and the legal system, Lagos State’s Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Lawal Pedro, SAN, met with the newly appointed Commissioner of Police, CP. Olanrewaju Ishola Olawale.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Justice in Alausa, Ikeja, aimed to address rising security concerns, particularly the alarming issue of land grabbing plaguing residents.
Highlighting the urgent need for synergy, Mr. Pedro noted, “The synergy between our institutions is crucial for the delivery and quick dispensation of justice in the State. This visit signifies our collective dedication to upholding the rule of law and ensuring that every citizen enjoys their rights under the law.”
The Attorney-General emphasised the importance of continuous dialogue to tackle new security challenges, stressing on collaborative efforts to develop policies aimed at closing legal loopholes often exploited by criminals.
He affirmed, “We shall work hand in hand to protect the lives of property owners while upholding the rule of law and maintaining peace and order in the State.”
In response, CP. Olanrewaju expressed gratitude for the warm reception and emphasised the need for a united front to strengthen existing cooperation between the police and legal officers.
“Our visit today is to strengthen the already existing cooperation between the police and legal officers in the State. Together, we are committed to building a safer Lagos,” he declared.
The Commissioner reiterated the ongoing police initiatives aimed at curbing illegal land activities and reassured the public of the police’s commitment to protecting citizens’ rights and properties.
“The problem of land grabbing is a growing concern, and it is affecting the peace and security of many communities. By working closely with the Attorney-General’s office, we will ensure that offenders are not only apprehended but also prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” CP Olanrewaju assured.
