Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu on Wednesday reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing inclusive opportunities for the youth during the On-Boarding Ceremony for 2,500 interns of the Lagos State Graduate Internship Placement Programme (GIPP).

The event, themed “Igniting a Future of Opportunities and Excellence,” took place at the Blue Roof in Ikeja on Wednesday.

Represented by Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, Sanwo-Olu emphasised that youth empowerment is central to the government’s agenda.

“The future of Lagos depends on the investments we make today in our young people,” he stated, highlighting the importance of programs like GIPP in creating pathways to success.

The Governor noted that the internship program is designed not just to create jobs, but to equip young individuals with the necessary skills and support to thrive in their chosen careers.

“This program is more than an internship; it’s a platform for career growth and professional excellence,” he added.

Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Mr. Akinyemi Ajigbotafe, described the GIPP as a significant milestone in enhancing the employability landscape in Lagos.

He urged participants to fully utilise the initiative, stating that it addresses the gap between academic qualifications and workplace readiness.

The interns have undergone intensive training in various employability skills, including problem-solving, communication, and teamwork, preparing them for their upcoming internships.

The State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development,  Mobolaji Ogunlende, encouraged the graduates to seek information beyond social media, emphasising that the government remains committed to youth-centric programs.
