The Lagos State government has taken decisive action against noise pollution by sealing the Celestial Church of God, the Redeemed Christian Church of God, and seven businesses in various neighbourhoods including Ikeja, Mushin, Gbagada, and Maryland.

Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced the crackdown on Wednesday via his X, formerly Twitter, account.

The initiative, led by the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), targets establishments that have repeatedly violated environmental regulations.

Among the sealed entities are Vital Products Limited, A & P Nigeria Limited, Polite Anchorage and Suites, and Evening Class Guest House, among others.

These establishments were penalised after being found guilty of violating environmental regulations despite several warnings from LASEPA.

General Manager of LASEPA, Babatunde Ajayi, emphasised the agency’s commitment to enforcing environmental laws, stating, “We will not tolerate non-compliance with our regulations.”

This enforcement action follows the recent sealing of Donalds, a restaurant owned by the popular socialite Cubana Chiefpriest, further emphasising the state’s commitment to tackling noise pollution and maintaining environmental standards.
