The Lagos State Parking Authority has disassociated itself from a man identified as “Isaiah,” who appeared in a viral video wearing a jacket branded with the Lagos State Government and LASPA logos while holding a parking permit.
In a Saturday statement titled “LASPA Clarifies Unauthorised Parking Permits, Misuse of Authority’s Branding,” the agency confirmed that the individual in the video is not an authorised LASPA agent.
LASPA further explained that the permit featured in the video is exclusively issued for setback parking and is not being used for its intended purpose.
“All activities or actions suggested in the video are illegal,” LASPA stated, emphasising that the on-street parking scheme in Lagos has not commenced.
A pilot scheme is in the pipeline, but no individual or agent has been authorised to collect fees for on-street parking or issue permits for such purposes,” the agency noted.
LASPA urged Lagos residents to be vigilant and avoid engaging with unauthorised individuals claiming to represent the agency.
Only LASPA staff are permitted to wear uniforms featuring the Lagos State and LASPA logos while carrying out parking enforcement and related services,” the statement read.
The agency also encouraged residents to report suspicious activities, reiterating its commitment to fair and transparent parking management.
“We remain committed to enhancing parking management in Lagos through transparent and fair measures that benefit all residents and visitors,” it added.
Meanwhile, LASPA urged residents and motorists with parking-related concerns or reports to contact the agency through its hotlines: 0700-00-5277202, 01-2275230, or 02-01-2275231.
Alternatively, the release noted that residents can visit LASPA’s office at 36B Sasegbon Street, Ikeja GRA, Lagos, or its official website: www.laspa.lg.gov.ng.
