Lagos denies ban on passenger vehicles from North
The Lagos State Government has stated that the claim of a ban on passenger vehicles from Northern states was false.
The Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, RTEAN, made the allegation in a statement issued by General Secretary Yusuf Adeniyi.
Adeniyi said the union received information that the state government had stopped its operations and called for a reversal of the decision.
Chairman of Lagos State Parks and Garages Administrators, Sulaimon Raji denied the purported ban on Monday.
Raji, at a news conference on Monday, described the claim as obnoxious, abhorrent, appalling and disdainful propaganda.
He said being a centre of excellence and the fifth-largest economy in Africa, Lagos is an all-around ethnic accommodation of all regions.
“We despise any act or show of ethnocentrism in our dealings as we believe that for any organisation or association to thrive, it depends solely on its oneness,” he said.
Raji advised the RTEAN to desist from displaying a “colossal show of shame” over a matter already in the court and allow the judicial process to take its course.
