Lagos cracks down on rail track vendors, environmental offenders

The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps has launched a crackdown on rail track vendors and environmental offenders in the Oshodi area of the state.

The State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced this in a statement and videos shared on social media on Wednesday.

According to Wahab, the operatives cleared the railway line in front of Arena and other parts of Oshodi, seizing wares illegally displayed on the rail track.

The video showed operatives clearing areas of makeshift shops and seizing goods that had been illegally displayed on the rail tracks.

This move is part of the state government’s effort to restore the aesthetics of the city and promote a cleaner environment. The Lagos State Government has also warned against open defecation and encouraged citizens to report any environmental offenders.
