The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has called on Nigerians to prioritise patriotism and collaboration for the advancement of the nation.
Obasa made this appeal on Wednesday in Lagos as part of his message to commemorate Eid el-Fitr.
Addressing the public, Obasa emphasised the collective aspiration for a greater Nigeria, transcending religious affiliations.
“Regardless of our religious beliefs, we all share the vision of a prosperous nation,” he stated, “It is imperative for us to bolster patriotism and cooperate with the government to realise this goal.”
Obasa’s plea underscores the importance of unity and cooperation in fostering national development amidst diverse religious and cultural backgrounds.
He also enjoined the citizens to rededicate their lives to God and revive their patriotism for the country for national prosperity.
According to him, citizens must continue to work hard as they build a peaceful, united and prosperous nation.
“In the Lagos State House of Assembly, our pro-people direction has resulted in legislation, motions and resolutions that have brought happiness to the residents of our state; we promise to continue to build on our successes,” he said.
He highlighted that Eid-el-Fitr signifies more than just feasting and revelry but serves as a day dedicated to expressing gratitude to God.
He stressed that the occasion should prompt reflection on the blessings received and the chance to extend acts of kindness and compassion to others.
Obasa extended congratulations to the Muslim community for completing the fasting period successfully, underscoring the significance of embodying gratitude and generosity during this festive period.
