The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) has arrested 51 street traders and miscreants during a clearance operation in Ikoyi on Tuesday night.
The operation, which took place at Mosley Street, Alexander Street, and surrounding areas, was aimed at maintaining law and order in the state.
Lagos State Commissioner for the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Wednesday.
Wahab noted that the arrested individuals would face trial in accordance with the relevant laws of the state.
“The clearance operation was part of our ongoing efforts to enforce environmental regulations and ensure a safe, orderly environment for all Lagos residents,” Wahab said.
He also reminded the public of the state’s commitment to maintaining public order and curbing illegal activities.
This operation follows a similar crackdown by the Lagos State Environmental Taskforce in November, when 53 suspects were arrested in Alimosho Local Government Area for engaging in illicit drug activities.
The recent arrests signal continued efforts by the Lagos State Government to maintain cleanliness and safety in public spaces
