The former Governor of Oyo State, Rashidi Ladoja, was conspicuously absent at the inauguration of the new Governor of the state, Mr. Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday.
Ladoja, the leader of the Zenith Labour Party coordinated other opposition parties, African Democratic Congress, Social Democratic Party to adopt Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party as the candidate. Their efforts also contributed to the victory of Makinde against Chief Bayo Adelabu, the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
It was gathered that Ladoja was sighted at his Bodija, Ibadan residence but chose to stay away for reasons yet to be ascertained.
His media aide, Alhaji Lanre Latinwo who was contacted on the development told our correspondent on the telephone that, “I didn’t meet him in the house when I got there in the morning and he is yet to return when we arrived from Liberty. Until I see him, I wouldn’t know why he was not there. I believe he went somewhere.”
Meanwhile, the PDP Deputy National Chairman, Chief Yemi Akinwonmi and some Yoruba leaders, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, Chief Olu Falae, Chief Olabode George including former Governors Omololu Olunloyo (Oyo state), Olagunsoye Oyinlola (Osun), Ayo Fayose (Ekiti) were part of the prominent people at the inauguration of Makinde on Wednesday at the Obafemi Awolowo stadium, in Ibadan.
Also Afenifere leader, Chief Reuben Fasoranti witnessed the hand-over ceremony held at the executive council chambers, Governor’s office, Agodi.
The immediate past Governor of the state, Abiola Ajimobi, was represented at a brief hand over ceremony by the new Head of Service, Alhaja Amidat Agboola.
