An Upper Area Court in Jos on Tuesday sentenced a 28-year-old labourer, Moses Sunday to 30 months imprisonment for stealing N100,000.
A panel of two Magistrates sentenced Sunday after he pleaded guilty to three counts of conspiracy, breaking and theft.
Delivering judgment, Mr Adams Galadima and Malam Ishaq Danjuma, gave Sunday an option to pay a fine of N30,000.
The panel also ordered the convict to pay N30, 000 as compensation to the norminal complainant.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Ijuptil Thawur told the court that the case was reported on Dec. 29, 2021 at the Rantya Police station by one Umar Maiyaki, the complainant.
The prosecutor said that the convict with two others, at large, conspired and broke into the complainant’s house and stole N100,000 cash.
The prosecutor said that the offence is punishable under the provisions of sections 59, 336 and 272 of the Plateau Penal Code law.
