A 20-year-old man, Victor Etima, on Wednesday, appeared before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State over alleged theft of iron rods, a generator and three wheelbarrows, all valued at N872,000.
The defendant, a labourer, who resides at Redemption Street, Ogudu, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp Donjour Perezi told the court that the defendant and his accomplice on July 1 at Praiseville Estate, Ogudu, conspired and stole the items.
Perezi said that the defendant and one other, now at large, entered a building site at Ogudu GRA Phase VI and carted away 16mm iron rods of 61m length, a generator valued N70,000 and three wheel barrows each valued N25,000.
According to him, the stolen items were property of Praiseville Estate, Ogudu.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened and were punishable under Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
The Magistrate, Mrs M.O. Tanimola granted the defendant N100,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
