Labour Party (LP), has inaugurated its Karu-Jikwoyi ward at Karu Site, Abuja in preparedness for the 2023 elections.
The inaugural meeting held on Saturday was graced by party Stalwarts in the FCT, which include the Karu-Jikwoji ward chairman, Hon Joshua Echendu, Professor Lawal Salihu, the party’s Senatorial and Federal House of Representatives candidates, Engr Mrs Ireti Kingibe and Comrade Joshua Chinedu Obika.
Hon Joshua Echendu, the chairman of the Karu-Jikwoyi ward in his inaugural address enjoined all members of his ward to get their PVCs and work as the foot soldiers of Labour party.
According to him, the essence of inaugurating the Karu-Jikwoyi ward is to “establish the ward as a very strong structure in the FCT through mobilization.
“Surprisingly enough, this inaugural meeting registered over 120 members in attendance.”
“In the same vein, over 50 members of the Karu-Jikwoyi ward registered as Card Carrying members of the party. This is to say that we are not just on the Social Media,” he stated.
The ward chairman further said that the party is very strong in the FCT and same is being replicated in the different wards in AMAC by the various ward Chairmen.
He added that, “As a matter of strategy, we will ensure that the voting population of the FCT does not only vote Labour Party candidates but also ensure that Labour Party candidates win the various elective positions in the FCT and the Presidency come 2023 elections.”
On his part Engineer Engr Mrs Ireti Kingibe who is the Senatorial Candidate(FCT) of the Labour Party in the upcoming 2023 senatorial election, admonished the party members of the Karu-Jikwoyi ward and all members of the party worldwide to get their PVCs, identify with their various wards and endeavour to know their precise polling units before election day.
According to her, “You don’t just register with labour party and go home and sleep. You must at the very least, know the polling unit where you are to cast your vote on election day.”
“You must also know the impeccable team of candidates contesting for various positions under the Labour Party.
“In line with casting your votes for our amieble Presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, in that same spirit, you must also cast your votes for Ireti Kingibe, for the FCT Senatorial seat, and also cast your votes for our Federal House of Representatives candidate, Comrade Joshua Chinedu Abika.”
Also, Comrade Joshua Chinedu Obika called for active participation among voters.
“Do you know why the Labour Party Logo has Papa, Mama and Pikin unlike others that have Fish, Umbrella, Broom, among other objects? It is because the Labour Party is taking responsibility.”
“You cannot hold objects responsible for any wrong doing or misdemeanour. It is only humans that can take responsibilities and that is what the party’s logo stands for, among others.”
“Vote for us and hold us accountable if we fail to raise your standard of living.” he added.
“The structure of the Labour Party has been emphatically displayed in the Logo of the party. It is the family.”
“It is the Nigerian people that have been displaced by insecurity, conditioned to abject poverty and driven out of livelihood by bad governance over the years, the unemployed and underemployed youths, the genuine Nigerian that has lost hope and become despodent, the Nigerians whose rights to qualitative education and the basic necessities of life have been denied.
“This is the structure, this is the structure that will take back Nigeria through the Labour Party, come 2022 elections.”
Others present at the inauguration of the Karu-Jikwoyi ward also include; the Labour Party AMAC vice chairman, Ndiya Ngutor, Woman Leader Karu-Jikwoyi ward, Mrs Nonye Obi, and Mrs Vivian Jacobs, Organizing Secretary.
