KWASU congregation elects new members to council committees

The Congregation in Council at the Kwara State University (KWASU) has elected new committee members to pilot its affairs for the next four years.

The elected members are Mr Nurudeen Idrees of the Works Department; Dr Dauda Adesola, Representative, Central Budget Review and Monitoring Committee; Dr Jumoke Ajao and Malam AbdulRafiu Gold, representatives of University/Community Relations Committee.

Others are Ibrahim Nurudeen, representative, University Health Services Committee; Dr Rasheed Busari, Representative, Students Disciplinary Committee, and Shehu Atere, Representative, Students Welfare Committee.

Also, Mr Femi Akinola, was also elected into the University Sports Committee, while Dr Steven Afolabi’s nomination for Staff Welfare Committee was unopposed.

Idrees, while speaking on behalf of the elected members, said the newly elected representatives of congregation in council would approach the task ahead with the necessary commitment.

He added that they would give priority attention to all members of staff with unbridled resolve to engender a peaceful atmosphere for them to discharge their duties without any form of fear or favour.

“Charting a successful path in the next four years will certainly require dedicated and unswerving effort of everyone on this premise.

“We intend to work assiduously to support the leadership of the school towards achieving unprecedented landmarks.

“Our vision which is centered on three cardinal goals: servant leadership, transparency as well as accountability, will act as a driving force in our new elective positions,” he pledged.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor, KWASU, Prof. Mustapha Akanbi, who presided over the election, commended every member of staff for comporting themselves in an orderly manner.

He urged the elected representatives to showcase exemplary character and be good ambassadors of the institution in their various committees and sundry offices.
