Saka Laaro, Ilorin

The Kwara State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the tragic killing of a retired Federal Controller of Works, AbdulRazaq Ajani, who was brutally murdered on New Year’s Day at his residence in Ilorin.

Sources revealed that Ajani, a retired civil engineer, was attacked shortly after returning from Offa, where he had spent the Christmas and New Year holidays with his family.

The attack reportedly occurred around 3 p.m. at his residence on Dele Gege Street, Aderoju area, off Obafemi Awolowo Road in Tanke.

According to a family member who reviewed CCTV footage of the incident, four young men, believed to be aged between 18 and 22, trailed Ajani and his family to their home.

“The CCTV showed two of the attackers standing near the gate, one sipping water from a plastic bottle, while the other two casually walked into the compound. Mr. Ajani, noticing the strangers, went to meet them at the main door. They appeared to engage him in a brief discussion before suddenly attacking him,” the family member disclosed.

Armed with small axes, the assailants gruesomely killed Ajani in the presence of his wife and children, who were left helplessly watching the horrific act. The attackers fled the scene immediately after carrying out the assault.
