Kwara: Four held for alleged rape-to-death

Four suspects have been apprehended in Esie and Ijan-Otu  axis of Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara state in connection with the alleged murder of Aushat Sanni.

The lifeless body of the woman was found in the bush in the area half naked with cuts all over her body.

One of the suspects, Sadiq Adams, a 19-year-old man, was fingered in the alleged killing of the deceased.

Others being held for their involvement in the murder are Rasaq Rasheed (16), Biliamun(16),and Lukman Quadri(15).

The prime suspect in connivance with the three others arrested the deceased in company of another woman on the ground that she stole cashew nuts while the second woman took to her heels.

While the suspects reportedly gave the woman a hit chase, the prime supect allegedly raped the deceased, who was said to have put up a resistance by biting him in the left arm and with bruises inflicted on his neck.

One Alhaji Musa  Waziri, the Secretary of Fulani and Bororo in Esie and Ijan region was said to have formally reported to the Outpost of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps(NSCDC), in Esie and Ijan that the deceased went missing on April 2, 2021 only for her corpse to be discovered in the bush the following day while the search party of the NSCDC, Police and Vigilante group picked up the suspects.

When asked about the where about of the deseaced, the other victim, who escaped the assault of the suspects, said the prime suspect overpowered the deseaced before she took to her heels.

The search party, during a visit to the scene of the incident, reportedly said the spot where Aishat Sanni was allegedly murdered was full of her neck beads.

It was gathered that the four suspects have been handed over to the police for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The Public Relations Officer of the Kwara command if Of the NSCDC, Babawale Zaid, confirmed the incident to NewsDirect and said the case has been transferred to the police for further action.
