KTSG supports NIS in fight against irregular migration, human trafficking

Katsina State Government has sponsored comprehensive maintenance of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) operational vehicles to enhance fight against irregular migration and human trafficking across the state.

The NIS Comptroller in the state, Mr Mohammed Mahmoud, made the disclosure while fielding questions from newsmen on Saturday in Katsina.

“We want to use this opportunity to graciously appreciate Gov. Dikko Radda for his untiring support to the command.

“He has sponsored comprehensive maintenance of all our operational vehicles to enhance our operations

“You know, we need to have efficient operational vehicles to move around to check irregular migrants and human traffickers.

“Those we find with legal travel document, we allow them continue to stay, while those without the required travel document, we repatriate them,” he said.

Mahmoud also said that the service had standardised its armoury, guard room and Information Communication Technology unit (ICT).

“The upgraded armoury is now fully secured, ensuring safe storage of rifles and other sensitive equipment.

“By providing a secured and organised environment for the storage of firearms, this will prevent accidents, misuse, or unauthorised access to sensitive equipment,” he said.

The Comptroller said that had demonstrated their commitment to maintaining highest standards of professionalism and discipline within the service.
