Kogi Poly partners U.S.-based organisation to boost its capacity, infrastructure — Rector

The Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, has entered into a partnership with U.S.-based Delaware African Caribbean Coalition (DACC) to enhance capacity building and infrastructure development at the institution.

Dr Salisu Usman, Rector of the institution, made this known in a statement signed by Mrs Uredo Omale, Head, Public Relations and Protocol Unit of the institution, on Saturday in Lokoja.

He said that the collaboration was sealed at a meeting between the management of the Polytechnic and a DACC team led by its President and Lead Chair for the Kogi project, Thomas Grant.

The Rector said that the Polytechnic would make positive use of the established relationship with DACC to actualise its cardinal agenda of delivering quality assurance and security, among others.

Usman commended Kogi Gov. Yahaya Bello for facilitating the meeting and collaboration, describing the partnership as timely and capable of projecting the institution on the global space.

He also lauded the governor for creating the enabling environment for infrastructure and sustainable manpower development at the institution, in line with his government’s education blueprint.

Mr Wemi Jones, the State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, who led the DACC team to the polytechnic, said the collaboration was to actualise the state government’s vision of providing quality education for all.

Also speaking, Asiwaju Idris, the state commissioner for finance, said that the state would partner with the DACC in other sectors, including agriculture, health, infrastructure and technology.

Idris commended the Rector for the laudable development, facelift and overall transformation accomplished in the institution under his watch, through the prudent use of resources.

Thomas Grant, President and Lead Chair for the DACC Kogi project, expressed delight with the infrastructure development at the institution, as well as other quality projects carried out by students of the school.

Dr Eunice Gwanmesia, Chairman, Education and Culture, DACC, also commended the Rector for his efforts in making the institution admirable, attractive and assured the Polytechnic management of a robust relationship that would be mutually beneficial.

Highlights of the DACC team’s visit included the presentation of materials produced by the institution’s Entrepreneurship Development Centre, such as towels, body creams, liquid detergents, Tie and Dye materials, among others.

The team also visited the exhibition house of the School of Art, Design and Printing and inspected some ongoing projects on the campus.
