The Kogi State Government has assured the Corp Members [National Youth Service Corps] stationed in the Ministry, a better working condition, in order to help cushion the brunt of the current economy.
Commissioner for Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Hon. Muhammed Muktar Shuaibu gave this assurance during a meeting with all current & outgoing Corp Members in his office today in Lokoja, Monday, 11th, March, 2024.
In his words: “I welcome you all to this meeting. It’s ironic that we are just meeting for the first time, and it’s also happening in a period when some of you are passing out, however, it’s better late than never.
“I wasn’t exactly sure we had Corpers in this Ministry because I had never ran into any of you before. I say this because in my experience as Vice Chairman at Bassa LGA, I was directly in charge of the Corp Members over there.
“And you’d see some of these Members in their Uniform, when they’re coming for Clearance and the likes. “Nevertheless, I want you to be of good character, not just here, but wherever you find yourself. Learn people’s culture, and understand what makes them unique.
“My aim is to make your stay comfortable, so that you can be motivated to work, and I’ll also ensure the outgoing ones are not left out as well. The Ministry will miss you & we wish you well. Thank you, and God bless you.”
Earlier, the Higher Data Processing Officer, Mr Joash Oluwatimilehin Anthony, thanked the Commissioner for honouring their visit, while referencing the privilege attached to it.
“Sir, we want to appreciate you for granting us the opportunity to come & see you officially.
“As the officer in charge of the Corp Members’, I felt it was necessary to supplement areas that they can improve, so as to ensure effective service delivery.
“I assured them that your presence here is not an accident, but one that is ordained by God. And as the new Head of the Ministry, it is only paramount to meet with you so that they can be motivated.
“As you are aware sir, Motivation is a very important key aspect in any organisation, and I plead that you use your powerful office to continue to motivate them in places where they may be lacking.”
The Commissioner thanked them for coming, and wished some of the outgoing corp members well.
