Kogi State House of Assembly on Wednesday rescreened, cleared and confirmed ex-commissioner, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo as a commissioner nominee presented to the House by Governor Yahaya Bello.
Fanwo’s rescreening was sequel to last week deferment by the Speaker of the House, Prince Matthew Kolawole.
Fanwo was initially screened as commissioner nominee on January 30, 2020 before he resigned in April 2022 to contest for the House of Representatives, Yagba Federal constituency, losing narrowly to Folorunsho Olafemi with a margin of four votes.
The governor subsequently after the APC primary forwarded his name along two others to the House as commissioner nominees.
The Speaker, Matthew Kolawole who corrected the notion that Fanwo’s nomination was rejected by the House last week, said it was only defered to today’s legislative sitting.
He equally asked the members to allow the nominee take a bow and go; having justified his position as a commissioner for Information before his resignation.
He was seconded and supported by majority of the House members.
A team from the executive arm comprising the SSG, Mrs. Folashade Arike; Commissioners for Finance, Sports and Education, Mr. Asiru Idris, Mr Musa Idris and Wemi Jones; Kogi ALGON chairman, Isa Taofiq, Mopamuro LGA Chairman, Hon. Moses Sunday David and other top government functionaries were on hand to give support to the Commissioner-designate.
Meanwhile, the commissioner, Kingsley Fanwo after the screening said, his renomination by the governor as Commissioner reaffirmed the confidence reposed in him, which he stressed will enable him strengthen the information agencies to perform their functions and achieved desirable results.
He also promised that the digital Radio transmitter purchased by the state government will soon be installed at the State Broadcasting station, thanking the delegation led by the Secretary to the State Government for identifying with him.
End.
