Kefas approves free medical tourism for Taraba monarchs

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State, has approved free medical tourism for traditional ruler in the state.

Kefas said the monarch will observe medical tourism in the hospital of their choice across the globe.

The announcement came on Friday from the office of the Bureau for Local Government, Traditional and Chieftaincy, in Jalingo, the state capital.

Briefing journalists on the development, the Permanent Secretary of the Bureau for Local Government, Traditional and Chieftaincy Affairs, Babangida Hassan, said the governor’s gesture is extended to all traditional rulers in the state.

“I am happy to inform all traditional rulers in the state of the gracious approval of His Excellency the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, for all the chiefs in the state to embark on medical check-up to various hospitals of their choice.”

The categories of the affected traditional rulers, as stated by the Permanent Secretary, are “First class, second class and and third class chiefs.”

“This is the first of its kind since the creation of the state in 1991. The leadership of the Bureau urges the traditional rulers to take advantage of this opportunity to conduct a thorough diagnosis of their bodies for their well-being in order to justify the resources given and reciprocate the good gesture of the governor,” he added.

Hassan further stated that traditional rulers must recognize their roles by assisting the government in the areas of maintenance of peace, security and harmonious coexistence.

Also speaking at the briefing, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Digital, Emmanuel Bello, noted that the governor has placed a high premium on the welfare of the royal fathers to enable them concentrate on mitigation of conflicts in their domains.
