Katsina internal revenue introduces e-service — Official

The Katsina State Internal Revenue Service (KTIRS) says it has introduced Electronic Service (E-Service) for the payment of taxes from within and outside the country.

This is contained in a statement issued to the journalists on Thursday in Katsina by the Executive Chairman of the board, Dr Mustapha Muhammad-Suraj.

According to him, the introduction of the e-service has lifted the state from 15th position to fifth in the ease of doing business in the county.

He explained that the development was aimed at reducing hardship faced by taxpayers in terms of payment, especially those from other states or countries.

Muhammad-Suraj added that, “The payment of taxes is done manually; payers from far away have to send their papers to us through the necessary means.

“But with the introduction of the e-service, they can now file monthly and annual returns as well as payment of all taxes electronically through the service portal at https://irs.kt.gov.ng.

“The companies only pay taxes from their profits. When they run at a loss, they don’t have to pay, all they need to do is to write to the board,” he said.

According to him, the board in the last two and half years of his leadership has witnessed an increase in revenue collection, attributing the success to the robust strategies he applied.
