Kano task force impounds banned, fake products at Abubakar Rimi market – Chairman
The Kano State Task Force on Fake, Counterfeit Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Foods has impounded some banned products being sold at the Muhammadu Abubakar Rimi Market, in the metropolis.
Task force chairman, Dr Ghali Sule, made the disclosure in a statement, on Wednesday, in Kano, by Mrs Hadiza Namadi, an Information Officer in the state Ministry of Health.
Sule said that the impounded products were mainly illicit drugs, fake and adulterated drinks, as well as expired cigarettes, explaining that the task force had already handed-over the items to the Commissioner for Health, Dr Aminu Tsanyawa.
He said that the state government was committed to ridding the state of fake, adulterated and expired products.
“The task force is doing this in the interest of public health and social sanity, members of the public are urged to do the right thing.
“We shall continue to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure an effective fight against fake, counterfeit drugs and unwholesome processed foods in the state,” he said.
He urged members of the public to support the task force with viable information that would expose those who sold or used fake and adulterated products.
According to him, the successes recorded by the committee so far, cannot be unconnected with intelligence information being given by members of the public.
