Kano signs MoU with France, releases over N100m for students outstanding payments

The Ambassador of Nigeria to France, Mr Kayode Laro, has commended the Governor of Kano state, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje over his efforts in uplifting the course of education in the state.

The ambassador made the commendation while hosting government representatives under the leadership of the state Commissioner for higher education, Dr Mariya Umar Bunkure at the Nigerian Embassy in Paris.

In her remarks, Dr. Mariya Bunkure said, the purpose of their visit to France was to see how Kano state sponsored students to Paris were faring in their academic activities and to renew the MoU between Kano state government and Campus France  signed by the state Governor for the benefit of the good people of Kano.

She added that Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has further released the sum of One Hundred and Ten Million Naira (110, 000,000) to settle all outstanding payments to the students.

While expressing his delight over the development, Mr. Laro appreciates the Governor’s effort being one of the leading Governor to sponsor school teachers to France to acquire higher degrees in their various disciplines all in effort to uplift the level of education in the state.

“Being highly educated, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and his entire family members, it did not come as a surprise that education is given exclusive attention in the state,” he added.

Mr. Laro finally call on other state Governors to emulate the giant developmental stride in moving the education sector forward.

The Commissioner was accompanied by the Rector, Kano state Polytechnic, Dr Kabir Bello Dungurawa and the Executive Secretary, Kano state Scholarship Board, Mudan Umar Bebeji.
