The Emir of Kano, Dr. Muhammadu Sunusi II, has expressed his deepest condolences to the government and people of Jigawa State over the recent petrol explosion in Majia, which resulted in the loss of many lives and destruction of properties.
During a condolence visit to the state governor, Umar Namadi, the Emir described the incident as a sad moment for the government and people of Jigawa State.
He noted that although the incident was an act of Allah, it has left many voids in the lives of the people.
The Emir was particularly disturbed about the number of youths affected by the incident and hoped that the government would take proactive steps in the future to contain similar situations.
“I have come to express my deepest condolences to you and the people of Majia on behalf of the Kano emirate. This visit has become necessary because of the long-standing relationship between Kano and Jigawa states, and considering that the District Head of Majia is our younger brother in Kano.”
The Emir also applauded the swift way the governor has handled the situation since it occurred and the manner in which he has been handling the affairs of the state.
He recalled his recent meeting with the British envoy in Nigeria, who praised the governor’s administration, saying, “We must learn to acknowledge it if someone does something well, not only to be criticising.”
Responding, the Governor described the visit as inspiring and thanked the monarch for his visit.
According to him, “It is not all the time that one finds a traditional ruler of your type making this kind of visit. That you are here despite your tight schedules is an indication of the love you have for the state, and we must thank you for that.”
