Kano Consumer Protection Council to combat fake, expired drugs through partnership ––MD
The Kano State Consumer Protection Council (KSCPC) has pledged to partner with the Nigerian Association of Patent and Proprietary Medicines (NAPPM), Kano Branch, to rid the state of fake, expired and counterfeit drugs.
This was contained in a statement signed and issued to newsmen by the Council’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mr Nabilu Kofar-Na’isa, in Kano, on Monday.
The Acting Managing Director of the Council, Dr Baffa Dan-Agundi, made the pledge while handing over drugs worth N100 Million to be confiscated by the Association’s Task Force.
Dan-Agundi commended the association’s move to complement the State Government efforts at eradicating drug abuse in the state, by engaging their members to weed out bad elements within them, who supplied such prohibited drugs to the state.
According to him, thetg State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, had given the Council approval to collaborate with the association.
He called on stakeholders to join hands with the State Government and the Council, in the fight against those who were into the illegal business of supplying dangerous drugs that were inimical to the health of the populace.
In his remarks, the Leader of the Association in Kano, Malam Hussain Labaran, noted that the Association was motivated to join the fight against fake, expired and hard drugs in the State, after they were convinced by the efforts of the State Government through the Council.
He further explained that the association has unanimously agreed to support the Council, to ensure that its agenda of a safe environment for legal Medicine dealers was achieved.
