Kano APC: Aggrieved members protest alleged plan to sabotage party

By Salim Umar Ibrahim, Kano

Some aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, from Kano on Monday held a peaceful protest at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

The members who are large in number were seen chanting slogan in support of the member representing Kano Municipal in the House of Representatives Shaaban Ibrahim Sharada.

They accused the state leadership of the party of sidelining all loyalists of President Buhari from party activities on the orders of the state governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

In January, Shaaban Sharada who chairs the House Committee on National Security and Intelligence was denied revalidation of his membership of the party when members of the revalidation committee refused to revalidate his membership at his Salanta Polling Unit of Sharada.

The members had also accused Ganduje of persecuting all loyalists of President Buhari in the state.

Some of the protesters were seen carrying inscription cards with “Ganduje has sold APC register to Tinubu in Kano.”

“There is a plan to sell President Buhari’s stronghold.”

Shaaban Sharada is among the top seven APC governorship aspirants in Kano.

Pundits had described the crisis rocking the party as terrible and may lead to the party losing out in the 2023 election in the state, if not addressed.
