Kamala Harris’s campaign receives $20 million surge in donations following Tim Walz’s selection as her running mate
Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign experienced a notable fundraising boost, amassing over $20 million following the announcement of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate. This increase was highlighted during their joint debut at a rally in Philadelphia on Tuesday, as they launched their campaign efforts in key battleground states.
The Harris campaign reported receiving $10 million in grassroots donations immediately after Walz’s selection. This surge followed Harris’s confirmation as the Democratic nominee, with overwhelming support from delegates.
Walz, a former teacher and veteran, was chosen for his effective communication skills and extensive experience, which are expected to strengthen the campaign’s messaging. His selection contributed to the Harris campaign’s record-breaking $310 million fundraising in July, including significant support from first-time donors.
In comparison, Donald Trump’s campaign raised $138.7 million in July and has $327 million in cash reserves, while Harris’s campaign holds approximately $377 million in reserves.
